1. Is the beef and lamb at The Maker's Meadow truly grass-fed and grass finished?
The answer is yes!
The calves and lambs drink milk from their mothers (who eat only forage) from the time they're born until they're old enough to be weaned at 6 to 10 months of age. From then on, they're only fed a small amount of organic minerals and, of course, large daily portions of quality forages (multiple species of grasses, legumes, and forbes) to graze until they are harvested.
2. Is the meat at The Maker's Meadow certified organic?
The answer is no!
All of the meat on our website is raised with organic practices, but we have not spent extra time and energy on filling out extensive paperwork to add a more or less meaningless label to our products.
We want to go beyond organic and sustainability to raise animals in a regenerative way that's not only chemical-free but also produced in a more holistic way.
We want to keep in mind these aspects of life:
¹ Social/Spiritual -
Loving and serving God and people first!
² Environmental/Humane -
Being good stewards of the resources that God has given us, caring for the plants, animals, and the environment the way He intended nature to be cared for.
³ Economical/Financial -
Operating together as a local community to serve each other and thrive economically. Working towards making life a win-win for everyone!
3. Are the pigs, chickens, and turkeys fed grains and soy?
The answer is yes!
The pigs, chickens, and turkeys are fed organic grains (corn, roasted soy beans, wheat, and organic minerals) and are given abundant access to a diverse diet of fresh forage.
4. Is the meat free of additives and how does it come?
Yes, all of our meat is free of added MSG & nitrates!
The meat is flash frozen in a vacuum-sealed package free of BPA, Melamine, and Animal-by-product.
