As people look for healthier and more sustainable food options, one choice gaining attention is pasture-raised turkeys. But what exactly makes these birds more environmentally friendly? Let’s explore the key benefits.

Happier Animals

First and foremost, our animal welfare guidelines are strict. But strict doesn't mean our birds are unhappy. Quite the opposite. Since they're raised on open pastures, away from the stressors of indoor barns and confinement housing, and have access to a natural diet, they're much happier than your average store-bought bird. This means they're also much healthier. Just the way God intended.

Healthier Ecosystems

Since our pasture-raised turkeys live outdoors, they forage on a variety of plants and insects. This natural behavior contributes to soil health by improving its nutrient cycle. Their movement helps aerate the soil, which reduces erosion and enhances water retention, fostering a more resilient ecosystem.

No Chemical Use

Turkeys raised on pasture don't require antibiotics and chemical treatments, and they don't eat feed raised with chemicals either. Since they roam in open fields, they're less likely to be exposed to the overcrowded, unsanitary conditions that typically lead to disease outbreaks in industrial farming. As a result, this drastically reduces the use of harmful chemicals that can leach into nearby water sources. Our birds are one-hundred percent chemical-free.

Lower Carbon Footprint

The outdoor living conditions of pasture-raised turkeys reduce the need for energy-intensive infrastructure like artificial lighting, ventilation, and heating. This means less reliance on fossil fuels, ultimately lowering the carbon footprint of the entire production process.

Support for Local Farms

Most pasture-raised turkey operations are small, local farms like ours that practice regenerative agriculture. Supporting these farms contributes to a more localized food system, reducing the carbon emissions associated with transportation while helping sustain rural economies.

Biodiversity Preservation

Pasture-raised systems often integrate livestock with plant life, creating a more biodiverse environment. This approach not only nurtures healthier turkeys but also supports the broader health of insects, plants, and other wildlife in the area, making the entire ecosystem more resilient.

The Bottom Line

By choosing pasture-raised turkeys, you’re not only supporting your health with cleaner, more nutrient-dense meat, but you’re also promoting a food system that works in harmony with God and His Creation. It’s a small choice that can make a big difference.
